Before the End of Phase One Colloquium on the 10th October, a pre-colloquium event 'Pathways to Practice: Dialogue and Development' will be held on 8th October at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI). This will be a seperate workshop with teachers and education practitioners which will be designed for participants to share their insights into research and practice together.

Amy Wawn is a musician and singer-songwriter from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. As a solo performer, Amy’s style ranges from lively foot-stomping folk rhythms to the dirty-delicious sounds of delta blues on the slide guitar, accompanied by a dark, brooding vocal range, lilting melodies and thoughtful lyrics.
Amy studied piano from a young age, and began learning guitar and violin in her teens. After being accepted to the University of Cape Town for a music degree, she decided to take a break from classical training and instead studied a degree in languages and translation whilst focusing more on the guitar and songwriting. She began performing in her hometown of Bulawayo after a brief stint of travelling on her own and working her way around Europe in 2014. Over the last three years, Amy has performed at several major festivals and events around Zimbabwe both as a solo act, and in a trio consisting of percussionist Nigel Mzingaye (Mzie) and electric guitarist Jonathan Wise.
Amy is now living and performing full time as a solo artist in Camden Town, London. She released her debut EP The Suspects in February 2018 in collaboration with exquisitely talented violinist, Georgina Leach.

The 2018 ILPA Landscape Photography Summit
The International Landscape Photographers' Association's Landscape Photography Summit is a unique event. This is the 3rd Annual ILPA Landscape Photography Summit and the Summit is based again in the beautiful mountain town of Banff, in Banff National Park. Banff is one of the premiere landscape photography destinations in the World!
The annual Summit occurs each year on a weekend at a popular landscape photography destination in North America. This year it’s in Banff, AB again on the weekend of Nov. 30 - Dec. 2, 2018.
The Summit is composed of many things including: presentations by leading professional landscape photographers, a small trade show, an included landscape photography day tour of Banff National Park for full Summit Pass holders and a one year membership to the International Landscape Photographer’s Association for Full Summit Pass holders, which you can use to take advance of the ILPA Member's discount on next year's Summit.
Banff is the place to base yourself to photograph the grand landscapes of the spectacular Canadian Rockies, a spectacular world heritage site for the environment. But, also come to The Summit in Banff to fully immerse yourself into the creative landscape photography process during the conference. The Banff National Park day tour included with your Summit registration:
Conference excursions are a great way to get out to photograph the amazing landscapes in Banff National Park. This is why we've included the Banff National Park Day Tour in the base Summit registration. Everyone who registers for the Summit with a Full Summit Pass will be getting a pass to go on one of the two Banff National Park landscape photography day tours. We believe the Banff National Park Day Tour to be the star attraction of all photography tours in Banff and we felt complelled to include it in the base registration for the Summit. This tour has been a staple tour offered by Brian Merry, your Summit host for many years. It's a good tour.
Addition photography excrusions during the Summit (available to Full Summit Pass holders only*):
As landscape photographers we all know that the best way to increase our chances of getting the best photographs is to get out there shooting on multiple occasions. You just never know when the weather will be just right for that perfect shot. So, to increase the chances for you to get that perfect photograph we've added a another sunrise photography photo excursion to the Summit cirricullum on Saturday morning.
Night Sky excursion:
We also know that Banff National Park is an ideal location for night sky photography. To that end we've added 2 night sky photography excursions as well. One on Friday Night and one on Saturday Night. We can't gaurantee perfect weather but we will take you out to prime locations given the weather at hand to photograph the night sky.
These excursions are optional and, they are additional to the regular Summit cirricullum. Only Summit Pass "A" or Summit Pass "B" ticket holders are premitted to purchase tickets to these extra excursions. If you missed out on buying one of the full Summit passes then please contact Brian directly During the Summir weekend to see if there is still room on the excursions. Tickets for the excursions not sold prior to the start of the Summit will be released to "Presentation Only" Summit pass holders during the weekend, if there are any excursion tickets remaining. Seating is limited on each excursion. There are three to choose from:
Friday night sky photography 1.5 hour tour (25 seats)
Saturday morning Sunrise 1 hour photography tour (25 seats)
Saturday night sky photography 1.5 hour tour (25 seats)

Special accommodation rates at the Summit venue, the Voyager Inn and their partner property next door, The Spruce Grove Inn/Canalta Lodge, are available to Summit attendees. Please contact the Voyager Inn reservations line directly at 403-762-3301 to learn about their special room discounts to ILPA Summit delegates and to book your room. Be sure to say that you've registered for the ILPA Landscape Photography Summit to receive the ILPA preferred room rates.
