This private tour is perfect for couples or small parties traveling together takes you to the finest craftsmen to learn about the diamond-, gold- and tanzanite industry in South Africa. The day starts with a visit to a bespoke diamond specialist where you will be welcomed and taken on tour to witness all of the processes to mould a fine piece of jewellery into a masterpiece.
Continue on to an unforgettable experience at a boutique factory followed by a lunch stop at the V & A Waterfront (own expense).
After lunch, visit Jewel Africa where a vast variety of very precious quality items are displayed. The tour will be rounded off' with a visit'to Greenmarket Square, a very popular craft market in the city.
Tour ends with drop off at your starting point.
After pick up from your accommodation at 9:30am, drive to a bespoke jewellery manufacturer in Central Cape Town where you learn about the industry. The tour then continues on a 'Sparkling' tour, learn about the history of diamonds and tanzanite. There will be an opportunity to meet on-site diamond cutters, designers and goldsmiths. In the showroom you will view beautiful crafted pieces of jewellery, loose stones as well as a replica of the Cullinan, the largest diamond ever found. The knowledgeable presenter will tell you about the four 'C's of diamond cutting- color, cut, clarity and carat.
Then drive to the V&A Waterfront and visit the second jewellery manufacturing workshop and diamond cutting and polishing factory. The tour will start with an 8-minute film clip to brief you on the industry. Then a guided walking tour follows. Standing behind glass windows you will witness the expertise that goes into the molding of engagement rings, breath-taking pendants and stunning tanzanite masterpieces.
There will then be a break for lunch a the Waterfront (own expense). After lunch continue to one of Africa's premier destinations should you be passionate about gold, diamonds, tanzanite and African artifacts. You will have the opportunity to see the largest collection of tanzanite jewellery as well as loose gems. Should you be interested in African art, artifacts and curios, the presenter will show you fine pieces of a discerning range of authentic African pieces with inclusion of jewellery, animal skins, ostrich eggs and an array of masks.
Time permitting, a local Craft market (Greenmarket Square) will be visited. Return to your hotel for drop off at approximately 5pm- 5:30pm.
