Taste local wines in the famed Cape Winelands and venture down south along the Cape Peninsula and the coastal Cape Whale Route to reach the most southern tip of Africa at Cape Agulhus. 3-day Western Cape Tour section:
Day 1: Travel from Cape Town. Visit Hout Bay harbour to wander around the charming craft markets or opt for an optional Duiker Island cruise (own expense) and then continue to the Cape of Good Hope and stop at Cape Point before heading inland to spend the evening at leisure in the town of Stellenbosch. On your second day, you'll have the unique opportunity to walk with a community leader at nearby Kayamandi for an insider's view of local township life. Later, enjoy some wine tasting, pairing it with locally produced cheese and even chocolate. Continue back down to the coast via Franschhoek to reach Cape Agulhas at the southernmost tip of Africa.
Either rise at the crack of dawn to go shark cage diving in Gansbaai (own expense), or depart slightly later to visit the popular whale-watching town of Hermanus. Visit Betty's Bay penguin reserve to get up close and personal with a large colony of penguins in their natural habitat, before one final last stop at Clarence Drive viewpoint.' Reach Cape Town in the evening.
5-day Garden Route Tour section:
Start a scenic journey to reach Wilderness National Park for a canoe ride in pure nature. Paddle on a calm river that winds through lush forests.
Depart early morning to visit Knysna to walk to The Heads - two sandstone cliffs that flank the mouth of the lagoon. Explore Tsitsikamma National Park with a guided walk along shady forest paths. Bungee jump from a 216-meter bridge above the Bloukrans River (own expense) or watch others as take the plunge. Spend the next two nights in Jeffrey's Bay.
Get an early morning start for a trip to Addo Elephant National Park, the third largest national park in South Africa. Home to over 550 wild elephants, lions, buffalo, black rhino and a variety of antelope species. After the safari in the minivan, return to Jeffrey's Bay for relaxing beach time, optional sand boarding or surfing(own expense) in one of the world's most famous surf spots. Partake in an optional waterfall zip-line (own expense) across waterfalls. Overnight at Oudtshoorn. Visit a working ostrich farm to learn about these fascinating birds. Return to the wild for an optional 4x4 game drive at a private game reserve (own expense).
Take part in an optional elephant experience at a nearby reserve (own expense) to learn about the orphaned elephants as you feed them.' Explore some of this subterranean wonderland with a guided tour of Cango Caves' vast halls and towering formations. In the afternoon, you'll return to Cape Town along scenic Route 62 - the longest wine route in the world, tasting some of the local wines en route.' The tour concludes in Cape Town late evening.
